Dean of Students

         Dr. Rami Klein
          Dean of Students
The Dean

The Office of the Dean of Students is the central authority responsible for student welfare and for addressing students' personal, academic and financial problems. The Dean of Students handles personal or collective problems, keeping in close contact with the Center's academic and administrative bodies on the one hand and in conjunction with the Students' Association on the other hand. Ruppin Academic Center views its students as full partners in the many activities that take place therein, thus every effort is made to help students, whether in providing assistance and care for personal problems related to their studies or in providing financial aid and employment guidance.

We wish you a fruitful, enjoyable and successful year of study.
Dr. Rami Klein
Dean of Students

Scholarships Financed by the Academic Center and External Scholarships
An array of scholarships is offered to students, some of which are based on socio-economic conditions, some are granted for social involvement and others are academic excellence scholarships. Various external scholarships are also available. The overall array of scholarships is overseen by the Dean of Students' secretary.

Assistance in Locating Additional Financial Aid
The Office assists students who are interested in obtaining external scholarships. The Dean's secretary, Ms. Natalie Shemer, is available to students and aids them in choosing foundations that are relevant to them. Details regarding the various scholarships may also be found at the website http://www.milgot.co.il/

The Perach Tutorial Project and Other Tutorial Programs
The Perach Project grants scholarships of up to half the sum of tuition. Registration is through the website only (from August 10, 2008): http://www.perach.co.il/.
Details regarding other tutorial projects such as "Pesagot", "Sachlav" and "Ziv Haneurim" are available on the internet.

Learning Disabilities

Ruppin has a large and highly achieved center to support students with learning disabilities. Additional details are available at the Learning Disability Center.

Assistance and Treatment for Personal Problems
The Office offers help and counseling to students with personal problems that arise during the academic year and which are not resolved on the departmental or school levels. Please see the Dean's Secretariat to schedule a personal appointment and for additional information regarding Counseling Services.

Student Ombudsman
By virtue of his position, the Dean serves as the ombudsman for student complaints and represents them when facing the academic system. Students who feel that their problem was not handled properly at the departmental or school level may turn to the Dean for further inquiry. It is important to emphasize that petitioning the Dean should be a last resort, after all proceedings involving the lecturer, the Department Head and/or the Dean of the school have been utilized and exhausted.

Students Serving in Military Reserve Duty Agreement
Ruppin Academic Center has signed the Students Serving in Military Reserve Duty Agreement. Rights issues in this regard, including submittals to the Army Reserve Duty Coordination Committee (Valtam), are handled directly by the academic departments' Secretariats and by the Students' Association. Students who would like to clarify their rights or appeal the treatment they received are welcome to turn to the Office of the Dean.

Social Involvement and Responsibility
Ruupin Academic Center has raised the banner of social commitment, involvement and responsibility among its students, employees and lecturers. The Office of the Dean, in conjunction with the Institute for Immigration and Social Integration, is involved in social projects and encourages students to perform community service. For example, a special project called "Students Building the Community", which grants students housing and municipal tax benefits as well as scholarships in exchange for social involvement, has recently been initiated in Netanya. In 2007, the Academic Center was classified as a "green campus" by the Ministry of Environmental Protection thanks to a variety of environmental conservation actions taken on its part and to student involvement in green activities.

The Academic Center's students also participate in youth center activities in nearby cities - Kfar Saba, Hadera and Netanya. In addition to information and counseling services offered to former soldiers, current students and graduates, Academic Center students take part in developing a leadership and social involvement program as well as diverse leisure activities.

Social Life, Culture and Sports

The Office of the Dean collaborates with the Students' Association to produce a variety of cultural, social and sporting events throughout the academic year. Among these events are Cultural Tuesdays, Students' Day, holidays, special ceremonies and more. Students also take part in various sports activities and the Center's sports teams represent the Center at sporting events and also participate in national competitions.
