The Students’ Association

The Students' Association

The Students' Association's objective is to further student welfare while ensuring their social, economic and public interests; to ensure students' academic status on and off campus; to represent the student population versus any authority, institution, body or person; to further equal rights for all students, including upholding and safeguarding the right to freedom of speech and organization on campus. The Association is a member of the National Students' Organization and operates in conjunction with other colleges.

Association Services

Initial Legal Representation
Academic Representation: before disciplinary committees and appeals committees
Student Welfare: the Association operates information and aid services regarding housing solutions, employment while studying and afterward, auto purchase, insurance and any issue furthering student welfare. The Association also offers assistance in relations between students and teaching assistants when needed, grants benefits to army reserve soldiers and holds a marathon group study project where practice tests and exercises are solved in groups in preparation for exams.

Social Events, Ceremonies and Parties
The Ruppin Students' Association organizes the tradition of Cultural Tuesdays: a two hour study break takes place on campus each Tuesday at mid-day, allowing students to gather to hear lectures by intellectuals, artists, industrialists and politicians and to enjoy cultural performances. Hanukah and Purim parties are held, including humorous sports activities, booths and music. Once each year Students' Day is celebrated with a large, colorful and boisterous event combining performances by well known artists, competitions, food stalls and bazaars. The Association also recruits musical groups from among the student body as it formulates and organizes ceremonies in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, IDF Soldiers Memorial Day and Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Day.

Sports
Ruppin Academic Center encourages all students to take part in an array of sports activities within the framework of its sports teams.
The Students' Association coordinates the activities of a number of Ruppin's sports teams: junior soccer, basketball, volley ball, sailing, windsurfing, hand ball, triathlon and more. The Academic Center's sports teams compete in regional leagues at an amateur level as well as at annual Academic Sport Association (ASA) competitions and tournaments. Ruppin's basketball team won the ASA championship in 2005/2006, coached by the late Ralph Klein.
Sports activities are held on a voluntary basis and student athletes must complete all academic requirements, like every other student. However, in order to prevent overload, a special class schedule is compiled for outstanding student athletes, allowing them to integrate academic studies with athletic professionalism.
For additional information and to join one of the sports teams, please contact the sports division  ASA Ruppin Site

Social Involvement
The Students' Association promotes social involvement projects in conjunction with the Academic Center in order to create an interface between students and the community. The various areas of activity include: holiday fundraising events, collection of donations and food, social support in areas that are part of the public agenda and projects related to absorption and Aliyah.

Additional information regarding the Association's activities and services is available at our website: Aguda  and via e-mail: aguda.rup@gmail.com
