Dean of the School

Greetings,

The School of Economics & Business Administration currently has some 2700 undergraduate students as well as graduate students studying in two programs (M.B.A./M.A.). Ours is the largest of Ruppin Academic Center's schools. The School's studies are funded and the degrees awarded to our students have been recognized by the Council for Higher Education since 1980.
The School has been renowned for many years thanks to the high level of its studies, which integrate theory with practice. Our pleasant educational and social atmosphere is supported by personal attention from the academic and administrative faculty who consider the students' success to be their main goal.
We work diligently to keep the study program up to date through a number of means. For example, we develop research programs that are funded by the Center and by external research entities, we keep in close contact with the professional and business community and we ensure community and social involvement of both the senior academic staff and the students. Our graduates may be found in a wide range of fields and some are well known figures in Israeli society and its economy.

We work to develop, expand and deepen our programs such that graduates reflect the Center's academic abilities on one hand and market requirements on the other hand. Double major programs in business administration, economics and behavioral sciences are currently being developed and during the course of the 2007/2008 academic year two graduate programs were opened:

A Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program that includes three specializations. International and global administration constitutes an essential part of the program. We view this program as having many options for academic development, for international collaboration with overseas institutions and for deepening professional ties with leading companies.

A unique M.A. program in Immigration and Social Integration. This program trains skilled professionals in areas that are greatly significant on the national, Zionist and economic levels and with which the State of Israel has been contending since its establishment.

In addition, we expect to receive approval from the Council for Higher Education for a graduate program in Clinical Psychology and are developing a unique graduate program in Logistics and Marine Systems.

The School strives to deepen its academic research and contribution to relevant professional bodies, such as The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Israel. The Institute for Immigration and Social Integration (Aliyah and Absorption), which is the only one of its kind in Israel, operates within the framework of the School. The Institute initiates research, teaching and community involvement activities. A mediators' course geared toward members of the Ethiopian community, currently in its second year, is among its unique community initiatives. The School of Social Sciences and Management insists on continually improving the quality of its programs and over the past years each of the School's department has gone through quality evaluations conducted by international committees of experts on behalf of the Council for Higher Education.

We also continually improve our infrastructure so as to enhance the students' comfort, including an impressive library including data bases and scientific journals and video conferencing equipment that enables international collaboration. We integrate well known lecturers from around the world into our academic work, lectures, steering committees and research at the School. These renowned lecturers come from overseas universities, among them Columbia University in New York, New York University, State University of New York, University of Illinois, University of Washington and The School of Business Administration in Copenhagen. It is especially noteworthy that within the framework of collaboration with developing countries, during the 2007/2008 academic year we initiated collaboration with the leading university in India, Amity University.

Before reaching a decision to register with our institution, I would recommend that you visit our campus, speak with students and faculty members and get a feel for the atmosphere. I would be pleased to see you among our students.

Best wishes and good luck,
Prof. Raphael Bar-El
Dean
