About Ruppin
Who are we?
The Ruppin Academic Center, established in 1949, is one of the leading colleges in Israel. Our 5000 students come from all parts of Israel: center and periphery, Jews and Arabs, well-off and disadvantaged families. Wherever they come from, every one of them deserves a chance to compete on equal terms in the race of life. We are committed to creating a learning environment that helps every student realize his or her potential. Every day we see the fruits of our efforts: students who struggled when they arrived, leave with impressive academic records and with confidence that makes them very much in demand in the job market.
Along with teaching, we invest in research. As a college, Ruppin seeks to connect faculty and students to the real world and its challenges. Our faculty and advanced students work in research centers where theoretical knowledge is applied to answer practical questions—from using the ocean as a source of food to helping aged persons adjust to a fast-changing world. Research projects in Ruppin encourage interdisciplinary teamwork, academic excellence, and social awareness. In the end, our goal is to make life better for us and for our fellow men and women.
Finally, we believe that teaching and learning, doing research and working for the common good, should be enjoyable. We do everything to make it so.

The group that includes researchers from all four faculties, studies sustainability—problems, solutions, and the social costs — in all its dimensions.
- Institute for Immigration and Social Integration studies the movement of communities and individuals across geographical, national, and sociocultural boundaries. It has an impressive record as a leading research institute in a country that was built by and for immigrants.
- Dror (Imri) Aloni Center for Health Informatics studies the flow of information within health systems focusing especially on patient welfare.
- Interdisciplinary Center for Decision Making studies the factors that affect decision making using analytical tools from different disciplines.
- Lior Tsfaty Center for Suicide and Mental Pain Studies examines the causes of mental pain and suicide and offers tools for the detection and prevention of suicide. A leading research group whose advice is sought by the state and organizations facing the challenges of depression and its outcomes.
- The Center for Research in Technological and Engineering Education: In a world where technological literacy is becoming a must and engineering, in high demand in the job market, can serve as powerful means of social mobility, the center studies ways of improving students’ learning skills in technology and engineering. By using robotics, gamification and active learning using AI, students’ achievements can be significantly improved.
Our Blue and Green Campuses
Ruppin maintains two campuses. The main “Green” campus is located in the center of the country, near Kfar Monash (about 40 kms to the north of Tel Aviv). It combines "kibbutz-style" buildings and wide green lawns from its days as an agricultural college and modern buildings — including a beautiful library, student residences, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, and the XT Building of Engineering and Community Sciences.
The “Blue” Campus is located adjacent to the sea, near Michmoret. In the Malka and Amnon Lion building, are state-of-the-art laboratories. The faculty has the marina, which faces the beautiful sea view. One of the most beautiful places in Israel.
The Ruppin Academic Center is the only academic institution in Israel which awards bachelor’s degrees in marine sciences.
Ruppin’s campuses provide homes for thriving and friendly communities of students and staff working in perfect harmony. Annually, Ruppin achieves some of the highest marks for student satisfaction in the country.
Ruppin's Mission
At Ruppin, we believe that academic excellence is not enough. It should come with the acquisition of skills that will serve our students in pursuing good lives and ensuring successful careers. Our students receive the best academic grounding as well as professional training. They achieve high scores in all rankings and are very sought after in the job market. As a policy, students get to experience the world outside campus walls as part of their studies. All Ruppin students do internships, hackathons and final projects, where they learn to apply theoretical knowledge to real life situations, as personal success should come with an awareness of real-world problems and a social conscience. It is our belief that dependable professionals should be good citizens and good human beings. Our students are trained to consider who pays the price for professional decisions and to work to reduce negative impacts by conscientious and responsible decision making. Ruppin graduates learn that good business and social responsibility can and should go hand in hand.
We have faith in our students, in our faculty, and in our administrative staff. Challenges, for us, are not threats but are opportunities. We are looking forward to the challenges ahead.
Looking to the Future
The Center for Maritime Research and Development
The new center will focus on the Blue Dimension of our planet. It will focus on understanding our blue zones and on learning how to use them in a responsible, sustainable way. The future of the planet may hang on this endeavor. Strangely, for a country that lives by the sea, Israel is only starting to understand the full implication of the sea for its wellbeing and security. The new center seeks to play a leading role in shaping blue-green policies for Israel.
Smart Campus
The AI revolution is knocking at our doors. In Ruppin we are working on harnessing its forces for improving teaching and research and for using our infrastructures more efficiently. We plan to transform Ruppin into an Intelligent Campus where water and electricity are AI monitored, where students get a personal digital monitor that improves their learning experience and prepares them better for the job market, and where researchers learn to use the new tools to gather and analyze data. With our researchers in the faculties of Engineering and Management and Economics, as well as our pedagogical experts, we believe we can create a model campus that will serve as a working laboratory and a model for other institutions of higher education.
The Center for Resilience, Community and Leadership.
Shortly after the tragic events of October 7, Ruppin Academic Center opened The Center for Resilience, Community and Leadership. Ruppin Academic Center has a strong group of researchers focusing on trauma and one of the only MA programs of social work focusing on trauma in Israel. Our Center for Resilience provides emotional support to our reservists and their families and to training and guiding "resilience leaders" who will serve as first responders in situations of crisis, stress, and trauma. The Center for Resilience provides leaders with practical tools to assist when it is most needed. In the long term, it seeks to create a nationwide network of resilience leaders, which will help Israel cope with crises. The Center for Resilience includes a research unit that analyzes progress in the field and provides dynamic research-based solutions. The Center for Resilience is an important part of the national effort of recovery and growth in Israel.
Kama: Community-based Counseling and Treatment Center for the Aged and their Families
Ruppin has a very dynamic group of researchers working on aging at the Faculty of Social and Community Sciences. With life expectancy on the rise, people are facing longer lives after retirement, longer lives in general, and require different modalities of thinking and modes of activity. The challenges of the new aging populations demand new thinking. One thought is that old age is not a disease, and old people's problems need not be treated in geriatric wards. A second thought is that the “crises” of aging involves not only the elderly but their families and caretakers as well. Thus, Ruppin has created Kama, the first Israeli academic Community-based Counseling and Treatment Center for the Aged and their Families. It is located on Ruppin's central campus. Ruppin faculty and students offer a valuable social service while teaching and researching how to aid the aged without turning them into patients. We are proud to lead the way in this important enterprise.
