Dr. Israel German
Dr. Israel German joined the Ruppin Academic Center as Vice-President & General Manager. He brings to the post extensive experience in the areas of management, economics and finance in both the public and private sectors. German's career – like that of most Israeli high school graduates – began with a tour of duty in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), where he served as an intelligence officer. Upon leaving the army, German took up his studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva, his home town. He received a B.A. degree in economics, graduating with honors. |

The next stage of German's career was spent in the USA. He completed a Ph.D. degree in economics and taught at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He then worked as an economist at the World Bank in Washington D.C. for four years.
Upon his return to Israel in 1988, he joined Haifa Chemicals as an economist. His path then took him back to his alma mater in 1992, this time as Deputy-Director General for Budgeting, Planning and Economics. In 1994, he was promoted to Vice-President & General Manager of Ben-Gurion University.
In 2005, German moved to Haifa to assume the position of Vice-President & Managing Director of the Technion-Israel Institute for Technology. Thereafter, he spent a few years in the private sector before returning to the world of academic institutions. In 2013, German took up his present post at the Ruppin Academic Center, where he is responsible for all issues related to the Center's operations, administration, and development.
