Sports at Ruppin
The Ruppin team returned from the ASA Championship with impressive athletic achievements
Many achievements were recorded for the athletes' delegation of the Ruppin Academic Center, at the 2018 ASA Championship, held in Eilat for the 50th year.
During the competitions, the girls' junior soccer team beat the Wingate team 4:2 and won the championship for the second time in a row and fourth in the last five years. In the maritime field, the students from the Michmoret School of Marine Sciences, Nir Harel and Ofri Andresa of the Rowing Boys team won first place and the women's rowing team won second place. This is an impressive achievement for the teams. In the SUP - standing rowing surfboard competition, held for the first time at the ASA, the Ruppin boys' team won the respectable second place. In the Beach Volleyball - Boys competition, more than 40 pairs competed, including representatives from Poland, Belarus and Greece. The Michmoret athletes came in third place.
After a two-year break in the table tennis Boys, the team went back to compete and reached the third place with Shahar Carmeli. The new team – Judo girls, came in Third place and the Olympic Judoka Shira Rashoni, a student of economics and management, won a personal gold medal. The table tennis team of girls, which was their first competition, finished in the respectable third place. In addition, the third place was led by students Yosef Kabha, Tal Kaftori and Idan Keren in the field of open water swimming. In Aquatlon, water wrestling, students Tal Kaftori, Niv Akdam and Roy Milman finished third.
The sports competitions held in the framework of the ASA Championship - an academic sports organization - are aimed at students studying in colleges and universities. This is a major international sporting event that lasts three days with competitions in a variety of individual and group sports, including: volleyball, soccer, triathlon, biking, running, sailing, surfing, judo, water polo, rowing, tennis, table tennis and more.
The Ruppin Academic Center believes that sports is an important part of student life and encourages sports activities on all levels. All students are offered to combine sports courses as part of the study program, and the participation entitles them to academic credit points. Outstanding athletes are offered to represent the sports teams of ASA Ruppin in a variety of fields and to participate in the ASA leagues and sport facilities.
