BSc in Computer Engineering
Majors: computer systems, signal and image processing, computer communication, software systems, medical systems
Advantages of the program: The Ruppin Academic Center offers a distinctive program in computer engineering. Unlike those offered at other Israeli colleges, it combines in-depth studies in software engineering, computer science, and electronic engineering. The program was developed in accordance with the standards at leading universities. Like them, it offers a combination of hardware and software studies due to an awareness of the needs of the high-tech industry.
About the field: Computer engineering is a field of engineering that brings together two areas of knowledge: computer science and electrical engineering and electronics. Computer engineers attain knowledge in both areas – electrical engineering and programming – as well as on the integration of hardware and software.
Alumni of computer engineering can work in numerous areas: computer system development, digital signal processing (DSP), software programming, writing firmware, developing computer-embedded systems based on micro-controllers as well as system on chip, programming sensor systems that connect to the internet, programming systems in internet environments, developing applications for mobile systems, operating systems, robotics, computer system architecture, and more.
With the rapid development in the field of computers, the demand grew for engineers who can address the challenges of developing computer systems with their many components. Computer engineers must have comprehensive knowledge of hardware and programming, proficiency in mathematical tools, and knowledge of additional sciences.
About the program: The main goal of the program is to educate computer engineers for positions dealing with hardware and programming. Alumni go on to serve as development engineers specializing in computer systems, real-time systems, and DSP systems, system engineers, software engineers, application developers, system analysts, and more.
