Facts
BSN in Nursing Sciences
-
University level tuition (subsidized)
-
High success rates: The percent of alumni who pass the Israeli government’s exams to license nurses is very high (approximately 90%).
-
Attaining experience in the clinical simulation lab: The clinical simulation lab in the Department of Nursing is outfitted with sophisticated medical equipment in order to provide a didactic and practical simulation of a work environment. This enables students to experience stressful situations in the framework of a simulation, before they experience them firsthand in the clinical field. In the practice and simulation classes, participants are introduced, as early as their first year of studies, to a variety of simple and complex clinical situations, including rare ones. Students practice identifying medical and nursing situations, develop observation, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, deepen their theoretical knowledge, and practice skills in a safe environment that enables them to learn from mistakes without harming a patient.
-
Clinical and professional experience: From a very early stage, studies combine theory with hands-on clinical practice at leading medical institutions and centers. A very high percent of alumni go on to work in this field. Alumni work at health institutions such as Ichilov, Tel Hashomer, Hillel Yaffe, and Meir and some continue on to advanced degrees and courses.
-
Inter-departmental cooperation: The Department of Nursing cooperates academically with other departments at the Ruppin Academic Center. This provides students with access to fields of knowledge that are relevant to the nursing profession: behavioral sciences, immigration and social integration, and more.
-
Principled outlook: The program emphasizes ethical issues that arise in nursing in the healthcare system in Israel and abroad. Special emphasis is placed on the topic of caring (compassion and fitness, the abilities to respond to a variety of the patient’s needs) and teaching professional and moral values in the field of nursing.
-
Class at the Sanz Medical Center-Laniado Hospital: The Department of Nursing at the Ruppin Academic Center rose to the national challenge to integrate the Ultra-Orthodox population into the job market and to the healthcare system’s need for nursing professionals with academic degrees. Since the 2013-2014 academic year, a nursing course specifically for Ultra-Orthodox women has been operating successfully in cooperation with the Sanz Medical Center-Laniado Hospital and the support of the Israeli Council for Higher Education.
-
Seminars: Throughout the academic year, the faculty hosts seminars and guest lectures. A seminar for clinical counselors on “Mediating the Reality of the Intergenerational Gap in the Clinical Education Process” took place at the Ruppin Academic Center in June 2016. This event was intended to enrich clinical counselors and reinforce ties between them and the Department of Nursing in order to improve guidance and better understand the needs of nursing students, both on the professional and the personal-emotional level.
