Facts
MA in Marine Resource Management
-
Distinctiveness – This is the only academic program in Israel that prepares its alumni for major, complex challenges of a highly innovative field: the wise use and management of marine and coastal resources, while preserving the values of sustainability and protecting the marine environment for future generations.
-
Tuition – Due to the Israeli Council for Higher Education’s recognition of the national importance of a master’s degree program in marine resource management, students enjoy subsidized (university-level) tuition, which is significantly lower than tuition at similar programs at universities around the world.
-
Combining work and studies – Most classes meet during two concentrated half-day sessions each week (on Wednesday evenings and Friday mornings), fitting conveniently into the schedules of executives, individuals who hold senior positions, and independent businesspeople.
-
Multidisciplinary – Over the years, extensive academic knowledge has developed in the three veteran כaculties at the Ruppin Academic Center: the Faculty of Marine Sciences, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, and the Faculty of Engineering. In order to make the most of this knowledge in the disciplines relevant to marine resource management, the program functions in cooperation with selected master’s degree programs from the other כaculties: the MBA program, the MA program in logistics and maritime resources, and the MSc program in marine sciences (with a thesis).
-
Distinctive, proven academic framework – The program operates in the Faculty of Marine Sciences, whose dean is Prof. Abraham Hefetz. It is the only faculty in Israel to specialize in research and education in topics related to marine sciences and the marine environment along the Mediterranean coast. Over the past 20 years, the faculties has educated over 1,500 alumni of undergraduate programs in marine sciences, marine environment, and marine biotechnology. These alumni serve today in senior positions in research, development, and management in academia and industry.
-
Distinctive courses – The curriculum includes many courses with a clear marine orientation, emphasizing topics not taught in any other academic program in Israel.
-
Professional tours in Israel – During the program, there are several professional field trips to large industrial facilities (ports, marines, power stations, and desalination plants) and different beaches in Israel. Senior executives from the forefront of the marine industry in Israel lead the tours.
-
Professional trips abroad to Hong Kong and southern China and sea port of Rotterdam, Holland.
