BA in Behavioral Sciences
About the field: Studies in behavioral sciences deal with understanding humans and their environment, mainly with regard to the individual, the society, and culture. The studies in the department are multidisciplinary due to the varied aspects of human behavior and focus on three main fields of knowledge: psychology, sociology, and anthropology. Whatever direction our alumni choose after completing the program, this combination of knowledge on human behavior grants them added value and positions them at a unique and useful starting point.
About the program: The vision of the Department of Behavioral Studies at the Ruppin Academic Center is to bring together theoretical knowledge, meaningful practical experience, and contribution to the community and society in which we live. The program therefore places special emphasis on three characteristics:
- Personal academia: Each student has a lecturer who personally accompanies him or her from the first of years of studies, providing guidance, direction, and assistance. Studies are conducted in small groups that make it possible for lecturers to get to know each student personally.
- Applied academia: The curriculum emphasizes the connection between theory and research and its application in the field. The studies include two years of experiential learning that combines field work and community service due to the moral-social worldview and the importance attributed to hands-on work alongside delving into theory.
- Innovative, multidisciplinary academia: The department’s faculty is composed of researchers from a variety of innovative fields. Their innovative, cutting-edge research enriches their teaching.
About employment and continuing studies: The program prepares alumni to continue onward to master’s degree studies in psychology, sociology, anthropology, criminology, different types of therapy (art, drama, etc.), labor studies, business administration, and more. A high percent of alumni go on to graduate studies at universities and colleges in Israel and abroad.
The program also opens the door for students to a variety of positions in companies and organizations active in various fields such as social and health services, education and teaching, human resources and manpower, security and safety, culture, sports, and more.
