BA in Behavioral Sciences

The Department of Behavioral Studies offers the following four program:

  • Psychology
  • Psychology with a major in applied psychology
  • Sociology and anthropology
  • Sociology and anthropology with a major in human resources management and organizational development

Psychology

The program provides students with knowledge and basic concepts in a selection of areas in psychology and facilitates gaining guided, direct experience in clinical, research, and applied work. During the first year of studies, students take courses in psychobiology and social psychology. During the second and third years, students take courses in personality theory, developmental and cognitive psychology, abnormal psychology, behavioral genetics, and neuropsychology.
This program includes all of the courses in psychology required for admission to a MA program in psychology at a university. It includes a rich variety of methodological courses that grant students wide-ranging knowledge of the main research methods in psychology.

Psychology with a major in applied psychology

The goal of this program is to delineate the path from academia to the professional world for alumni as well as equip them with the tools and methods that will provide them with an advantage in any framework they choose to work in upon completing their studies: the police and defense establishment, administration and governance, sports, education, health, and more. The courses in this program – criminal psychology, organizational psychology, judgement and decision making, and more – translate academic knowledge into practical work methods and tools that can be utilized in a variety of frameworks in the professional world and give alumni of the program an advantage in the job market.

Sociology and anthropology

This program focuses on societies and cultures as well as examining the way in which the environment shapes us as individuals. The core studies include theoretical courses, methodological courses, and practical experience. The program puts special emphasis on the importance of the societal and community arena, taking initiative and community service in this arena, and the importance of the relationship between academia and the community. The program prepares alumni for social services positions in communities and organizations.

Sociology and anthropology with a major in human resources management and organizational development

This program provides its alumni with a distinctive advantage in the job market thanks to the practical combination of behavioral studies and business administration.
In this program, students delve into fields related to the organization and the individual it employs. The academic infrastructure in this program serves as a base for working and studying in the fields of human resources and organizational development. In addition to introductory courses on human resource management, organizational theory, organizational psychology, and labor and employment sociology, the program includes advanced courses such as integrating information systems, interpersonal communications at work, and managing negotiations as well as a group dynamics workshop. Beyond the degree in behavioral sciences and a certificate for the program, alumni of the program can receive professional certification from the Israeli association for management, development, and research of human resources and officially become members of this professional community in Israel.
