Electro Optics
The Electro Optics Laboratory is involved in applied research as in final year student projects.
Research topics of the Electro-Optical laboratory are mainly concentrated in the following fields:
1. R&D of special purpose planar optical waveguides a fibers made of AgBrCl in
the mid-IR spectral range (3 to 30 microns).
2. Spectroscopy research in the VIS and mid-IR is focused on domestic,
agriculture and medical applications.
3. Designing and manufacturing of thin film structures using evaporation vacuum
system.
4. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and other biomedical engineering
issues in the range of the visible and NIR
Equipment in use in the Laboratory:
1. CO2 Laser (Synrad, model 48-1, 10W)
2. FTIR (Oriel, model MIR8025)
3. Spectrometer in VIS (Ocean optics, model USB2000 and model USB650 Red Tide)
4. Spectrometer in UV and VIS (Perkin Elmer, model Lambda 15)
5. Lock in Amplifier (SRS, model SRS 830)
6. Optical Chopper (SRS, model SR 540)
7. Light sources in the UV, VIS, NIR and mid-IR
8. Turbo evaporator and thickness monitor (Polaron, model E6300)
9. Optical components in the VIS and mid-IR based on ZnSe
10. 2 optical tables and opto-mechanical components
